Qualifications
BSc (Hons Melb), MBBS (Hons Syd), FANZCA
Education and Training
I completed my medical degree at Sydney University in 2003. I entered anaesthetic training in 2006, which was based at The Alfred Hospital in Melbourne. I undertook a paediatric fellowship at The Royal Children’s Hospital, and a thoracic fellowship at The Austin Hospital.
Continuing Professional Development
I am involved in the teaching of anaesthetic trainees, other members of staff, medical students and paramedics. I am a member of The Australian New Zealand College of Anaesthetists, and I keep up to date with the latest anaesthetic techniques and research via the ANZCA continued professional development programme.
Areas of Specialisation
I am a paediatric and adult specialist anaesthetist. I anaesthetise patients having all types of surgery, including ear, nose and throat surgery, eye surgery, major plastic surgery, orthopaedic surgery, abdominal surgery, cardiology procedures, dental surgery and gynaecological surgery. About half my patients are children.
Background
In 2011 I moved to Sweden, where I worked as a full time paediatric anaesthetist at the Karolinska Children’s Hospital in Stockholm. I gained more experience in paediatric regional anaesthesia, and I learnt how to speak Swedish.
The following year I worked as a full time staff specialist at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne.
Currently I am a visiting anaesthetist at The Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital where I am the clinical lead in paediatric anaesthesia. I work privately at a number of hospitals in Melbourne, including Epworth, Cabrini, St Vincent’s Private Hospital, Linacre, The Avenue, and Victoria Parade Surgical Centre.
